WEEN in Louisville, KY (Our 4 year anniversary)

Tuesday July 8th was our 4th anniversary. What better way to celebrate than going to see WEEN?!?!?!? They were playing in Louisville , KY. It was the closest place they were playing since last October when I saw them for the first time.Once again, we got to drive through some crappy weather. It was actually beautiful until about a half an hour from Kentucky. Once we crossed the river, the sun started shining again. It turned out to be perfect for the evening.

This picture was taken while we were crossing the Ohio River. I did the best I could taking shots through the wet windows :-)
I fell in love with these orange chairs in our hotel as soon as I saw them....so of course, I had to have my picture taken in with them. I think I'm screaming "PARTY" in the picture!!!!
We stayed in a nice little Holiday Inn downtown. It was only a couple blocks from the venue, so we were able to walk to and from the show. We ate in the bar before we left and had a delicious dinner. Our waitress was named Pam. That was kind of ironic because we have a friend who is about half my size who we call "Big Pam." The waitress reminded us of our Big Pam, so Ryan wanted his picture with her. She was fun.As soon as Ryan spotted the name of this meal on the menu, it was sold. It was called the "Kentucky Hot Brown." How gross does that sound?!?!? But you know, it was actually really good!! It was smoked turkey smothered in au gratin potatoes, tomatoes, cheese, and bacon served with four big pieces of Texas toast.
My food wasn't quite so funny, but it was good!!!! I love green, so I wanted my picture with my green chicken wraps!!!! I know I'm lame...........but if you notice in the background, I had already started drinking by that time....that's my excuse!!!! After dinner, we headed down to the venue. It was called Coyotes and it was in a building in the area called the City Block of Louisville. I was really happy to see so many familiar faces in Louisville!!! Shawn Kirby and his girlfriend Monique were there, Nick and Ashley were there, and so was Clint.Clint and Ryan kept my drinks coming all night!! It's wonderful to not have to play designated driver. We all had a great time dancing, singing and hanging out with eachother. Here's Ryan, Shawn, and Monique sitting in front of the Forecastle Festival sign that Ryan ended up bringing home to hang on our poster wall. Ekoostik Hookah will be playing there, so we wanted to get the flyer at least. We won't be able to make it to the show because we will be in Portland then. This is Gene Ween belting it out. They are absolutely amazing to see live. Crazy, yet amazing!!!! Had to throw in a picture of me and Ryan all snuggly :-)Another shot of Gene. I never got very close to the stage. It's not quite the same as an Ekoostik Hookah crowd. People post their spots up front at the WEEN shows, and you better not even think about trying to sqeeze in. Where at the Hookah shows, you might find a few people like that, but most of us up front are like "hey, come on up here.....squeeze in with us....the more the merrier!!!" So, next time, I guess I'll just have to get there plenty early enough to post my own spot up front. It's not worth a fight to me.

It's always like a family reunion at show when Clint and I are together. I really miss having him in Kokomo. He's my big little brother, and I will always love him like my own brother.
This is a picture of one of the walls in the venue.
After the show, Ryan and I went to Nick and Ashley's hotel for awhile. It was about a block away from our hotel. Nick was already asleep when we got there, but Ashley was raring to go!!!! So, we had a couple drinks there and then headed back to our Holiday Inn.The after party continued at our hotel when we got back. I was obviously having fun finishing off this bottle of wine. Don't worry though....Ryan helped me :-) It was a fun night, to say the least.I never actually finished that bottle of wine, but apparently I felt like I did. Ryan has a whole series of pictures of me twirling around and him standing on the bed looking over me. We're just a couple crazy kids. Four years, and still loving every minute of it!!!!
