May the Four Winds Blow you Safely Home

"May the four winds blow you safely home"................

These are lyrics that have gotten me safely home at least in my mind so many times......Thank you Robert Hunter for writing these beautiful words, and of course Thank you to Jerry Garcia, for putting his music with them to become the song.........Another collaboration that has touched me deeply.

Franklin's Tower

In another times forgotten space

Your eyes looked from your mother’s face

Wallflower seed on the sand and stone

May the four winds blow you safely home.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew

I’ll tell you where the four winds dwell

In franklin’s tower there hangs a bell

It can ring, turn night to day

It can ring like fire when you loose your way.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew

God save the child that rings that bell

It may have one good ring, baby, you can’t tell

One watch by night, one watch by day

If you get confused listen to the music play.

Some come to laugh their past away

Some come to make it just one more day

Whichever way your pleasure tends

If you plant ice you’re gonna harvest the wind.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew

In franklin’s tower the four winds sleep

Like four lean hounds the lighthouse keep

Wildflower seed on the sand and wind

May the four winds blow you home again.

Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
You’d better roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
Roll away the dewYou’d better roll away the dew - roll away.

PS This is the song I named my dog Franklin after...incase you care:-)

Cool lyrics!

I wondered why you named your doggie Franklin! Do you still have Maceo, and why did you name her that?

Alli-gal, check out the band The String Cheese Incident

http://www.stringcheeseincident.com/

You can listen to some of their music free on their site under the sounds tab.

They have a sound I bet you'll like. They're obscure ... but that's what makes them interesting to me.

Good ol BMG - got to experiment with every type of music when I worked there...dang I miss that!

sarah!!

I do still have Maceo...she's fat now!!

Anyway, i named her after a song by Jane's Addiction called "My Cat's Name is Maceo" It's a pretty off the wall song...but with some fun lyrics

I'm also a huge fan of Maceo Parker who is a fantastic Sax player. He played with James Brown back in the day, and I actually was lucky enough to see him in Chicago a long time ago with Michael....Pretty cool cat :-)

You're right, they're right down my alley....LOVE 'EM!!!!!!

Allison, did the String Cheese Incident cover Franklin's Tower - or am I in a haze? That's what brought this up in the first place...though I didn't mention it.

On a side note, do you like string cheese? I love it!

Andrea,
String Cheese may have covered Franklin's Tower at some point. They do some Dead covers once in ahwile...so it wouldn't surprise me.

.........and YES!!! I love string cheese

Hmm...I'll have to ponder that one.

String cheese is so good.

yes....
and even though my cat is a female, Maceo is actually a male name

I had a really hard time finding a meaning for Maceo, but I finally found some stuff...it was a lot, so i just copied it.....

Your first name of Maceo makes you spontaneous and versatile, enjoying congenial association, appreciating the finer things of life, and loving to talk and debate. You are strong willed and self-sufficient, not depending on others for encouragement. Your desire for independence and freedom means that you seldom tolerate limitations

The name Maceo creates the urge to be self-expressive and happy.

Just the fact that it's hard to find means there aren't many of them.

It's also a good man name for when little Maceo grows up and a good baby name for when he's laying in his crib. I love it! If S-Hooks doesn't use it, I might when I adopt my carmel colored baby from Africa.
